The Objectives of this Presentation will be to:

     1. Learn factors that may present safety concerns for a person with Dementia.

     2. Understand the ethical considerations for addressing safety concerns for a person with Dementia.

     3. Learn services that are available to reduce the safety concerns for a person with Dementia.

 

SPEAKER:

Mikki Firor M.S., is a Gerontologist with a focus in Dementia, BS Psychology from Stevenson University, MS Gerontology; minor Counseling from McDaniel College

After her time at the Baltimore Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in the Neuropsychology Department and Dementia Clinic, Mikki chose to specialize in Dementia. During her employment at the Alzheimer’s Association, National Capital Area Chapter, Mikki conducted professional training and spoke to the general public regarding dementia.

Mikki has served as the director of a dementia community in an assisted living facility and worked with professional caregivers, families, and individuals impacted by dementia first hand. She implements best practices to maximize Activities of Daily Living (ADL) independence.
As president of Trovato, LLC, Mikki provides education to senior market professionals and the care partners of those with dementia regarding neurological impact, safety, communication, and behavior management. She provides assessments that inform those suffering from dementia and care partners to minimize challenges and maximize opportunities while improving quality of life.
